What is Glycomet (Generic Orabet)?
Glycomet (Generic Orabet) is used to treat Type 2 (insulin-dependent) diabetes. Glycomet (Generic Orabet) decreases the amount of glucose absorbed from food and the amount of glucose produced in the liver. Glycomet (Generic Orabet) increases the body's response to insulin, a natural substance that regulates the amount of glucose in the blood.

How to use Glycomet (Generic Orabet)?
Do not stop taking Glycomet (Generic Orabet) without consulting your doctor. Mostly you will be prescribed one 500mg Glycomet (Generic Orabet) tablet 3 times a day, while the 850mg tablets are usually taken twice daily to give effective diabetes control. You must use Glycomet ( Generic Orabet) in accordance with the physician. 


What side effects can this medication cause?
Glycomet (Generic Orabet) has certain side effects. Common side effects of Glycomet (Generic Orabet) include:

  • vision problems
  • shakiness
  • dizziness
  • numbness/tingling of the mouth
  • fatigue
  • fast heartbeat
  • sweating
  • confusion


If you have any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately:  

  • loss of appetite
  • frequent urination
  • trouble breathing
  • thirst
  • dry mouth
  • flushing
  • dry skin

 

Glycomet (Generic Orabet) may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe:

  • stomach pain
  • stomach upset
  • vomiting
  • bloating
  • heartburn
  • flushing of the skin
  • sweating constipation
  • diarrhea

Precautions

  • Consult your doctor if you had a history of heart, thyroid disease, or pituitary; any adrenal gland problems; hormone problems; or a severe infection.
